Borealis and How To Plan An Orgy In A Small Town win awards at Toronto's Canadian Film Festival
Borealis, written by, produced by, and starring Jonas Chernick, won two awards at the tenth annual Canadian Film Festival this past weekend, handed out at the Royal Cinema in downtown Toronto. The film won awards for Best Director for Sean Garrity, and Best Actress for Joey King, who also won a Special Jury Award for her performance at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Picking up three awards at the ceremony was another film starring Chernick, Jeremy Lalonde's How To Plan An Orgy In A Small Town, which won Best Feature Film, Best Ensemble Cast, and Best Costume Design. Borealis opens at the Carlton and Kingsway theatres in Toronto on Friday, April 8, and then at the Grant Park Cinemas in Winnipeg on April 15, with the rest of the country rolling out thereafter. How To Plan an Orgy in a Small Town opens across Canada and the US on May 13. Both films will be released in Canada through Northern Banner Releasing.
